The elevation of Honaunau Farm is one of the top benefits with perfect temperatures that don’t require air conditioning or heating. Daytime temps are usually between 70F and 85F with evening temperatures usually in the low 60s and will drop into the upper 50’s during a couple of winter months.
Our sustainable systems include agroforestry, permaculture, and animal systems including sheep, goats, chickens and ducks. We have 32,000 gallons of water storage and a backup water easement with a neighbor to pump county water if need be.
Diverse Accomodations
The structures are well-appointed with two homes and 6 cabins for a total sleeping capacity of about 20 people. The main house (3bdrm 2bth) has sweeping views of the ocean where you can watch the sun drop into the Pacific year around. The lanai on both the west and north sides offer very comfortable and very useable outside spaces. The floors have recently been redone and almost the entire interior has been painted. The kitchen feels very modern and has a farm-zen feel.
The Ohana house is a great second-story apartment that sits in the heart of the farm with beautiful bamboo framing the south side. The lanai also offers ocean views and comfortable spots to work or relax. Both the kitchen and bathroom have been remodeled since 2021.
Premier Location
The farm is near several stunning beaches and two national parks, Honaunau National Park and Volcanos National Park. Honaunau park has a beautiful picnic area with palm tree shaded tables and a serene environment. It sits beside some of the best snorkeling in the state which is next door at Two Step. Volcano National Park has dramatic lava flows and is one of the most visited National Parks in the country. The raw natural beauty of the area is immense and readily accessible.
In the midst of this raw beauty the farm has paved road access and is just 3 miles from a grocery store with natural foods and an ace hardware and only a few minutes to the local gas station. Kona town is 30 minutes away and the International Airport is another 10 minutes past that. There are a handful of well-rated eateries just minutes away, several in Kona town and resort destinations with a diversity of offerings an hour away in Kohala.
Ownership Possibilities
The primary owner, Steve, who is well known in Hawaii for his work as a regenerative farmer and advocate, is willing to discuss owner financing with a 35% down payment and is also open to staying on as a minority partner (10-20% investment) if there is a good match of personalities, vision, and goals.
